Our new build Jack Up Barge Jana 501 currently under construction in North China has successfully completed sea trials last week. This Self-Propelled unit is a custom-designed one for the offshore energy industry in the region. The ASD propulsion system driven by 2 x 2000 Kw electric motors and the proven design of CTW enabled the Barge to register a maximum trial speed of 8.4 knots in testing winter weather conditions of Bohai Sea. This excellent speed of 8.4 Knots is a rare for a barge of 92 Meter LOA and 40 Meter Beam with 4 x 97 Meter legs and 2 x 190T / 20 Ton Cranes.
Various other tests conducted during the sea trials given excellent results which confirms that all the 136 POBs onboard will experience highest levels of comfort onboard. Jana 501 now returned to the shipyard yard for few additional installations and finishing works prior to the delivery scheduled for February 2019.
